Promising Obesity Drug Triples Weight Loss
Tesofensine is the new weight loss drug being researched in Denmark by Nuerosearch. Tesofensine inhibits presynaptic uptake of dopamine, serotonin and noadrenaline in the brain supressing hunger and leading to weight loss.
In clinical trials patients lost an average of 12.8 kilograms when taking Tesofensine once daily compared with a weight loss of 2.2 kilograms when taking a placebo.
The weight loss drug now expected to be taken up in phase III trials has already proven safe in animals and when administered to obese people has provided a weight loss more than twice that of any approved weight loss medication currently on the market.
