The Dark Side Of Hydroxycut
Hydroxicitric acid, the primary ingredient in hydroxycut, comes from the fruit of the Garcinia cambogia tree, native to Southeast Asia. In mice it has been shown to lower the amount of fat created by carbohydrates. Hydroxycut in the past had large amounts of ephedra which was made illegal by the FDA after it was linked to heart problems and death.
Hydroxycitric acid does work to induce weight loss and suppress appetite in mice, but has never been conclusively proven to show the same thing in humans. In fact the amounts of hyroxicitric acid given to the mice that were studied is 20 times the amount given to humans in studies of hydroxycut. So unless you plan on taking a whole bottle of hydroxycut a day you are most likely to see no weight loss, which at $60 a bottle could get very expensive very fast.
So what about the studies quoted in Hydroxycut commercials? WebMD had this to say “It’s true numerous studies have suggested a weight loss benefit with hydroxycitric acid. Most of these studies, however, were small or low quality.” Furthermore, according to one well researched clinical study quoted on WebMD:
“Obese men and women taking HCA(Hydroxycut) in another trial lost no more weight than those taking a placebo, after 12 weeks.”
Still thousands of people continue to take Hydroxycut despite little real evidence of weight loss and reported side effects such as high blood pressure, headaches, nose bleeds, blurred vision and outbreaks of acne all over the body.
If you need to lose weight we strongly recommend you avoid taking hydroxycut or any diet pills for that matter. We have yet to find a non-prescription diet pill that provided any adequate weight loss and all we have researched have horrible side effects, and most prescription diet pills are reserved for the morbidly obese. Most physicians recommend a good diet plan and regular exercise.
Being motivated to lose weight is a wonderful thing. Diet pills may seem like a quick fix but truly it’s not very hard to lose weight if you get on a good weight loss program. Remember, YOU CAN DO IT! Consult your doctor to see which diet plan is right for you.
